In 1374 (August or September), Du Guesclin takes the place to the English.

In 1384, the castle, detained again by the English, was besieged by the French led Gaucher Passac, captain general of Languedoc. The castle was then evacuated by the English, following payment of a ransom by the Duke of Berry. The same year the English took the village again and kept it until 1451.

Penne has been under English rule for many years.

The castle was dismantled in 1586.
